Edward Stourton is one of the stable of presenters on Radio 4’s Today programme. He also chairs debates, presents Sunday and makes documentary series, often with a religious or ethical theme. For some years he anchored the One O’Clock News. Born in Lagos, he was educated at Cambridge and served as President of the Union. He became a founder member of the Channel 4 News team and was appointed its first Washington Correspondent during the final years of the Reagan presidency.

As ITN’s Diplomatic Editor, Ed covered the end of the Cold War, crises in the Gulf and the Balkans, and the Maastricht negotiations. He reported from the field on all these stories, including Allied attacks during the Gulf War. Ed has received a Sony Award for Best Radio News and Current Affairs Programme. His documentary credits include For Us and Against Us, about the coalition to fight terrorism, and A Year in the Arab Israeli crisis. He has also presented the foreign affairs series Correspondent.
