CEO, Willmott Dixon
John is Chief Executive Officer of Willmott Dixon Capital Works. This is the element of Willmott Dixon Group that encompasses major construction, house building, interior design and fit-out, plus sustainability consultancy.
John played a key role in developing Willmott Dixon as one of the industry’s most prominent exponents of open-book partnering. Willmott Dixon is now taking a similar leadership role with sustainability, and John has set targets that the company must be carbon neutral and send zero waste to landfill by 2012.
Willmott Dixon’s sustainable credentials were underlined when it was named the UK’s most sustainable contractor in the 2009 Sunday Times Green Companies List, achieving the overall position of third place. To help drive this performance even further, John has worked closely with leading environmental campaigner Jonathon Porritt, and was instrumental in Jonathon being invited to join the main board of Willmott Dixon Group as a non-executive director.
In recognition of his leadership on the low carbon agenda, John was appointed to the board of the UK Green Building Council in 2009. This follows his work on the task group responsible for the UK Green Building Council’s report in March outlining a new Code for Sustainable Buildings. This aims to provide a framework for new and existing buildings to meet tougher requirements they face to be more energy efficient and sustainable.
